Affordable bed slats?

4 of the slats in my bed broke. I rent this apartment and the bed is really shitty, so I want to replace the whole bed slack with a new one, and with the cheapest possible.

The one I currently have measures 90x185cm. It’s a single bed.

I checked IKEA and they have one that is 90x200cm. I went to Nitori and they don’t sell them.

I live in central Tokyo. Ideally I’d like to order them, but can also go to a shop in person.

Thanks in advance!

  1. What do you mean? Nitori does sells slat. すのこ. Are those different than what you’re looking for?

  2. Buy/borrow a saw and the 2m slats from Ikea.

You don’t need a nice looking cut for under your mattress.

Actually, a pair of scissors might be enough after looking at the photo….

  3. Assuming my understanding of bed slates is correct, you should be ok as long as the width matches (90cm). You just have make sure the supporting frame on your bed holds 90cm wide slates.

If the length of the Ikea slates are longer (200cm vs 185cm), you can either just put the slates closer together, or simply not use a couple of them.

The gray part in the photo is just a ribbon cloth, to make sure the slates stay evenly spaced. You should be able to cut them easily.

  4. If you Google “すのこ90cm” you get tons of results. Cheapest I see is about 1000 yen, but you’d probably need 3 of them for a 70-80kg adult.
