1. I signed up for SOMPO Japan before, looks good value but I’ve never needed to claim. Love to see other feedback.

2. Japanese credit cards (especially if you have a Gold card) have built in travel insurance. We had to take my wife to the emergency room in Kauai while on vacation 7-8 years ago. We claimed the hospital expense through our Gold Visa card – all covered. Obviously, there was some back-and-forth communication between my (Japanese) wife and the credit card company.

3. If you have an accident over there any of them will be good value.

4. I use Tokyo-Marine and have never had a problem. I’ve made claims a few times.

5. Go to kakaku and use the compare option.
