High school exchange question

Question about High School exchange

Hello,
I am an Australian 17 year old turning 18 this year, and am currently undertaking a gap year.
Due to covid, an exchange to japan was not possible, but now that the country is open again, I had reconsidered my options.

I am in the age range to be eligible to be a final high school year student in japan, but am no longer in high school in aus.

I wish to study at a japanese university, and have always wanted to study at a japanese high school.

Could anyone reccomend some steps in order to potentially secure an exchange/chance to study?

Thanks

  2. Given that you have (apparently) already graduated there is effectively zero chance that you would be allowed to participate in a high school exchange program.

Being in the age range is not the only criteria. Most exchange programs require you to be a current student as well.

**EDIT:** To be clear, you could easily come to Japan on a Working Holiday visa, or as a language school student. But not as a high school exchange.

  3. Unfortunately high school exchange programs are for high school students, not just people in the high school age range.

  4. Why are you wanting to do an exchange specifically? Have you finished year 12 or you left before the HSC?

If you’re just wanting to experience life/like a cultural exchange, just come on a WHV and look into WWOOFing.
