Shibuya Sky & Yomiuri Giants Question

Hi friends! Leaving tomorrow (ahh!!!) and can’t thank this sub enough for all the helpful tips, suggestions and general knowledge provided. I’ll be sure to post a report when I get back!!

I had two last minute quick questions –

The bar at Shibuya Sky just opened like last week I think, so I’m not sure if anyone knows the answer to this. I bought tickets to SS just before sunset and figured we’d kill time at the bar while we waited. Didn’t realize there was a separate ticket for the bar + admission… does anyone know if there’s like standing options / take a drink not in the lounge area since I’ve already purchased my ticket, or a way to add this on when there? It’s most certainly not a deal breaker, I’m just surprised it’s not available to everyone who goes to the rooftop with admission? Since surely the real money maker is the super pricey drinks lol.

Second, my friend mentioned that years ago when he went to a baseball game in Japan it was customary to give “little gifts” to people around you in the seats nearby? Is this true? I’ve read a few “how is Japanese baseball different than US” sort of blog posts but saw no mention… just don’t want to be rude.

Thanks again!

  1. There are standing options and a la carte ordering from the rooftop bar at Shibuya Sky. I believe the tickets are for if you wanted the seated option. The drinks actually aren’t too pricey at all, imo!

  2. I would also love to know about baseball customs… I’ll be going to a game in September and have not heard anything like that!

  3. Gifts for people sitting around you at a Giants game… I don’t think there was any gifting going on when we went. This one guy was very friendly (and drunk) he was offering us snacks but that was about it.

  4. following for baseball options – i have the perfect little gift to give to others

  5. Always a good move to buy the person(s) next to you a beer if they strike up a friendly conversation, especially if they help you understand the chants/customs/who the players are or something of that nature

  6. I went to a game in 2019 and no gift giving was done. Nobody looked like they expected it either.
