I was in Shikoku for GW and while in Imabari I tried to find their local dish, yakibutatamagomeshi, but due to GW the SEVERAL shops I tried were either full, only accepting parties of two or more, or rejected me because I’m a foreigner (small towns, man). I ended up wandering into an izakaya instead as I got too hungry and it turned out great.
More volcanic than Takoyaki, imho. My wife and I always order them when on a menu. Great with beer!
I prefer this to regular dumplings. They are juicy and go well with beer.
