when is the best time to learn phrases/sayings? (also, I haven’t checked resources yet for this, but if you have recommendations for this type of material that you personally think works, that’d be great)
Kindly correct.
泥棒が、お金が入っていないことを知らずに、財布を盗んでしまった。 “*A thief stole a wallet without knowing it had no money in it.*”
>太陽が拳二つ分傾く
Is this literally saying that the sun went down 2 fists in distance?
I am confused by who is the actor for the を in things like それを答える and 手を触れる . Is the を being used similar to the で “by means of”, perhaps similarly to the “through” meaning of “を” is を歩く ? Like is 物に手を触れる more like “touch your hand to it?” in that you are touching something through your hand?
But that kind of a confuses me when I read example sentences like this:
それに言葉が通じるなら聞きたい事もある。そう思った時、頭を触れられたような感触がした。
I’m confused if it’s “that’s when I felt a sensation like my head being touched (by something / someone) ” or “that’s when I felt a sensation like my head being touched (to something)”. I would think the latter but I am not too confident.
How to say “I am qualified for this class.” By class, I mean ones you take at school and being qualified means having enough prerequisite knowledge. 私はこのクラスに適切?
What’s the difference between 信頼 and 信用?
I am reading an eroge with frequent use of the word 乳房. Is it commonly pronunced as ちぶさ or にゅうぼう? Just to help the narrative voice in my head.
It would be mean, but I really wish there could be a weekly “roasting unnecessary, poorly made Japanese language learning resources” thread. I swear every other day I get an ad for some new slapdash “a NEW way to Learn Japanese!” app
I want to express “Is this book on sale now? If not…”
> この本は市販されていますか そうでない場合は、
I am wondering if そうでない場合は sounds natural in this context. If not what are alternatives?
How to express “Event A is in conflict/overlap with event B” (in terms of starting and ending times) naturally? Aとが重なる? AとBが同時に行われる?
I was reading a description in a certain YouTube video made by a Japanese native and I found this one sentence odd
字幕をON/OFFにして頂くことができます。
Is it a proper usage of いただく?
What does **香代は香代で (Kayo wa Kayo de)** mean in this context ?[A husband is speaking about his wife’s career, explains why she left him and their child]
when reading i met this sentence but not sure about this part ,much thanks if anyone can explain to me its meaning
「**香代は香代で**、考古学研究の第一人者ですから。そんな人間を、私と穂花で独り占めするのはもったいない」
My guess : “Because Kayo (his wife who went oversea for a business trip) is a leading expert/No.1 in archaeological research. It would be a waste for me and Honoka( their small daughter) to keep such a person to ourselves.”
Please correct me if i was wrong or missing any meaning o/

「そのころ、とにかくお金がいった」(要るの過去形)という言い方は、日本人が見ればおかしいのでしょうか。
I came across this sentence: 少し寂しかったがそんな真面目さが好ましくもあり. I have also seen sentences ending in ~てほしくもあり.
I wanted to ask what’s the nuance here with ~くもあり. This is kind of a shot in the dark (and also another question), but could this be related to how what looks like an adverb is actually an alternative to the て form?
「とびら」と言う教科書と小説とどちらの方が学びますか。
今まで小説を五冊しか読みませんでした。

Hi! I’m a bit confused about what happened with the original Nihongo con Teppei podcast (intermediate level). Spotify only has episodes 600-700. I downloaded an app called Castbox (he had a link on his website), where all 700 episodes are available. However, from episode 13 onwards the sounds seems to be corrupted half way, lots of voices start mixing mid episode. Anyone knows what happened? I’m ignoring that for now and just listening to the newer Nihongo con Teppei Z on Spotify. Thanks!
About the と (sometimes って) at the beginning of sentences, what exactly is it for? I believe it’s mainly used when you say something, then something gets your attention or you are surprised by something, and you use と/って in the next sentence to mean something like “having said that”, or “being done with that, let me address this”.
Here’s an example:
あッ遅い先輩!と… お二人もありがとうございます
For context, a girl is waiting for her senpai, and when he arrives, she says he’s late, but right behind him are two of his friends, so she notices them and says the next sentence.
what そうとう and どうやら mean?
I saw them in this sentence when the hero was kidnaped to an unknown place
暑い
どうやらそうとう南に来てるみたいだな

How can I do the small つ on a mobile keyboard?
Sometimes the autocorrect let’s me select it, but often not.
I haven’t learned katakana or any kanji yet so there may well be a practical reason why there’s no dedicated key for it. But it’s giving me a bit of grief in practicing my hiragana.
When asking questions, what is the difference between verb+ないか and verb+るか (e.g. 受けられないか vs 受けられるか)?
Hi fellows, prepping for jlpt N3. Have the following questions:

2. [Question 2](https://i.imgur.com/1fextIH.jpg)I put answer 1 but it’s 3. Very confused :/
3.[Question 3](https://i.imgur.com/t2WsJ2a.jpg) I put answer 3 but this time was 1 xD

>だいぶ日が昇り、気温もゆっくりとだが上昇する。
The placement of the だが here is throwing me a bit off, but does this sentence mean: “With the sun having greatly risen, the the temperature is rising, albeit slowly.” Where the だが is sort of saying that while the temperature rising is slow, the increase of temperature is surely still happening.
How far off is my understanding?
What is the difference between どう + Verb and どうやって + Verb?
これをどう使いますか = How to use this?
これをどうやって使いますか = How do I use this?
One of my elementary aged kids has recently started learning some Japanese and learned that “ka” makes things into a question.
He has started saying “konnichiwa ka” as “hello?”
Is this correct? If not, what is/is there a correct way to say “hello” as a question?
I’m self-studying with Tobira materials, and saw this question
「‐スル」が使えない単語はどれですか
a. 挨拶 b. 笑顔
c. 感謝 d. 尊敬
Which word can you not use suru with? I thought the answer is (b) but I looked up each word on jisho.org and all 4 of them have “Suru verb” listed… is this just a bad question?
