I’ll be heading to Japan and spending about 4 weeks there. What would people recommend to get some basic vocabulary, reading, and speech down before I go? Just looking for basics to make travel a little easier. Is duolingo good enough?
English will get you through Japan with no problem if you are in main areas. The only real issue you’ll have is eating at small places and you can just point at what you want.
Best strategy is to learn how to use google lens and google translate/DeepL, *while making sure you’re connected to the internet when doing so*.
You wouldn’t need the above if you’re staying in the heart of Tokyo, whereas if you’re going to be ~~一面のクソミドリ~~ in the middle of nowhere, it’ll be different strategy. So, where are you going to visit?
