Got this from Japan. This is the lattle bottle. How can I make cold green tea that is similar in taste to this?

Really liked the taste

  1. It’s called Itoen koicha

(itoen is the brand name. This is their bold green tea)

Maybe buy itoen tea bags and brew a few extra at a time to get a stronger flavor

  2. So: Tea, time, and temperature.

Tea. Real Japanese green tea. You can certainly find good tea in bags if you dig around, but let me put in a word for loose tea from Adagio.com. I’ve been ordering from them for close to 20 years now. They do a green tea sampler for nine bucks, so you can try a few. You’ll need an infuser, like a tea ball, which they’ll sell you or you can get at any housewares place.

Time and temperature are also critical. Green teas can’t take boiling water, and they can’t steep too long. They turn foul and bitter. (For a stronger tea, you’ve just got to use more tea leaves.) I find 165 degrees F for two, maybe three minutes is about right. So you either want a kettle that lets you select different temperatures, or a thermometer–Stir the water to get a good reading. And set a timer when you steep it.

Hope this helps! It’s really no harder than making a good cup of coffee, just different.

  3. I can get this at my local asian grocery store. It’s a little pricy, but it’s the stuff.

  4. It is a government approved product that reduces body fat because of its high amount of catechins, but it tastes no different than regular green tea. They also sell a powder of it that you just add water to, but I don’t know if you can buy it outside of Japan.

  5. OP, you need to ignore most of the other comments because it’s obvious that these people who are giving you generic green tea advice aren’t familiar with this exact tea. This specific tea has a very unique flavor and is **by far** my favorite green tea I’ve ever tasted. It’s almost impossible to replicate.

[This is the loose leaf version](https://hmartdelivery.com/zh/products/ito-en-oi-ocha-green-tea-leaf-ichibantsumi-dark2-46oz-70g) if you want to make it yourself, but it’s very difficult to find (your only chance is an Asian grocery store, and most of them don’t even have it). So alternatively, [you could just buy the bottles from Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Ito-En-Unsweetened-Antioxidant-Caffeinated/dp/B001SAQ546/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2A9J0N2E87RRS&keywords=oi%2Bocha%2Bkoicha&qid=1683760838&sprefix=oi%2Bocha%2Bkoich%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-5&th=1).
