I recently married and will be changing my name to my spouses’.
To prove the name, the US embassy says: “If married in Japan; Family Register “Koseki Tohon” OR Certificate of Acceptance of Marriage Report “Konin Todoke Juri Shomeisho” issued by the Japanese city office”.
I am not a Japanese citizen so I don’t have my own Koseki but I am on my Spouses’, foreigner-style. Is this suffecient? I can go to my city hall for the other doc but I have a copy of the Koseki now so that would be easier.

If it’s listed on the embassy website as legitimate proof, it should be fine.
The document you get from city hall after registering the marriage is enough.
