I’m looking for a cheaper option to duplicate my bike key. The price quoted by Mister Minit was 4200 Yen, which seemed quite high to me. I’m open to recommendations for any affordable and reliable locksmiths, preferably in West Tokyo (Setagaya).
If anyone has navigated a similar situation or knows of any cheaper options, your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I believe this information could be useful to others in this subreddit as well.

Very dependent on what you’re trying to duplicate. If a dimple type key that is provided by the manufacturer… That’s what it will cost.
Honestly, if that’s what they’re charging, that’s pretty much the market rate for your type of key. Minit is generally very reasonable.
I’ve found just buying a whole new lock that comes with 3 or 4 keys is sometimes cheaper, or similar in price to getting keys made. Check Rakuten for cost of new lock.
