Pension refund bank verification document for Australians

Hello! Leaving Japan soon to go back to Australia and trying to prepare all the paperwork for pension refund. One of the documents required on the application form (#3) is as follows:

*Your bank may verify your account information by placing a certification stamp in the “Bank stamp for verification” column of the Claim Form. Or you can attach a document verifying the “Bank Name,” “Branch Name,” “Branch Location,” “Account Number,” and ” Name of the account holder – showing that the account holder is the claimant himself/herself” (this document should be a certificate issued by the bank, etc.)*

I’m pretty sure Australia doesn’t have stamps anymore 😂 so I suppose my only option is the second part, but I’m not sure what kind of “certificate” they’re looking for? Is a bank statement enough? Because I checked my bank statements and they don’t show the Branch Name or Location

I’m sure other Aussies have gone through this already so maybe someone can help me out here. FWIW I’m with ING Direct in Australia

  1. Not an Aussie but a printed bank statement (as in printed at home, nothing fancy) was enough for me.

  2. You could have a chat over the phone with your bank to confirm first. Westpac has stamps when I went earlier this year.

  3. Both Westpac and P&N have them. You just need to ask and probably go through many questions of “why?”
