I am about to move to Japan as an international student to study in Chiba for the next 6 months, is it unrealistic for me to live in central Tokyo and commute to Chiba each day, I don’t really have an issue with a long commute for the trade off of being able to experience living in Tokyo but am wondering is this something that is commonly done? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated as moving day is fast approaching! 🙂

Unless the school is hours out from Tokyo, most of Chiba is Tokyo.
Tokyo Disneyland is Chiba, for example.
For daily life, nothing will be radically different.
It would be a sort of reverse commute, so I would think it’s doable. I would, however, check the cost of commuting and living in central Tokyo can be quite a bit more expensive.
Depends where in Chiba. Some places in Chiba are close to the 23 wards and are classic commuter towns. Other places in Chiba are a lot more rural.
Commuting from Tokyo to campus in Chiba City is going to cost you. For example, Shinagawa Stn. to Chiba Stn. is Y820 one way.
