Address on Residence Card

Dear all,

I need to put an address on my Zairyu card (working holiday visa) to get a Japanese creditcard and in haste I wrote my address on it myself (beyond stupid I know but my application for the card was about to expire so I was stressing out a little and it was late at night). I am currently staying in an AirBnB so it is not an “officially” rented place I think. So I have a few questions before I go to the municipal office:
Does the writing on it render it illegitimate? Or could I remove it somehow, I already tried alcohol rub etc. But none of it is working.
Would the municipality be able to remove the ink?
And most importantly: would the municipality regard the airbnb as a legitimate address and gove me the stamp?

Edit: They did not give me a new zairyu, I can apparently keep using the current card as I’ve gotten a stamp on the one I wrote on.

Thanks in advance!

  1. You ain’t getting that credit card haha

Not only do you not have a permanent address you don’t have a full time job or an appropriate visa – your application is 100% getting declined.

  2. Pretty sure the only people able to answer exactly would be officials.

But no they probably wont want to deal with your card and will want you to get a new one issued.

You don’t need a renting contract to register an address at the city hall.

You were probably not getting a credit card anyway, been here not long, not a seishain job, working holiday visa.

Writing yourself on government issued stuff is not usually the way to go, you wouldnt glue a more recent picture of yourself on your passport would you?

  3. Congratulations, you have just defaced your residence card and have made it invalid in doing so. Go to your city office with it asap, since you’re required to have it on you at all times.
