Scam phone call or not?

Hello!
I just moved to Japan last year in October.
I received a phone call today from a Japan # while I was away from my phone, so I didn’t answer. When I saw the number and didn’t recognize it, I looked it up. It says it was a call from the Aichi Prefecture Social Welfare Office. This has me confused/worried because I don’t live in the Aichi Prefecture, and I know nothing about Social welfare in Japan. Should I be worried about this phone call? Am I blowing it way out of proportion?
The number didn’t leave a voicemail or anything, and some people online say that the number might be a scam. I just wanted to post on here to see if anyone has had something similar happen to them. Thank you in advance!

  1. Don’t sweat it. Phone numbers seem to be easy to spoof, so it could have been anything. If it’s important, they’ll call again. If not, there’s your answer.

  2. Could be the wrong number. Could be a recycled number. Any number of reasons.
