What does テン mean in internet slang?

I saw it used on a YouTube comment like
“_____テンテンテンテンテン”

Would it be similar to an lololol or TTTTT possibly? From a direct translation, it just means ten ten etc. so I’m not sure if it’s something like how grass (草) is the lol because it looks like wwwww.

  1. It’s basically just a written equivalent of ellipses. Silence, basically.

  2. I always interpreted it as like when someone is speaking too much or in circles.

  3. With ‘テン’ being the pronunciation of the separator between numbers for decimals, it’ll probably be ellipses as others mentioned.

  4. Without context, it would just be silence e.g. a shocked silence depending on the context of the video and comment.

In my mind, I read ellipses (…) as てんてんてん in Japanese or dot dot dot in English

    Same thing 😊

  5. the circle is called a ten ten (テンテン). So テンテン, テンテン, テンテン.

  6. in my humble opinion, cant say for sure without the video link and the comment in particular, but i think the comment is typing out the melody or fanfare.

like, for example, final fantasy victory theme will be : tententete-tete- tettene.

just my opinion. it could be ‘…’ like the others have said but who knows, maybe.
