About student visa extension

If I’m done with my studies but still have not completed the amount of years I have to stay( for naturalization ,for example) can I still prolong my visa?

  2. You can’t extend a student visa without being a student. You can try to change to a work visa if you want to get PR eventually (why would you wanna naturalise??)

  3. You require a primary purpose for living in Japan, and you have to be actively engaged in that purpose. If your primary purpose is to be a student (student status of residence) then you’d need actually be enrolled in full time classes.

It’s also worth noting that as both PR and Naturalization require proof of financial independence (in the form of tax records) you typically cannot go straight from student to PR or citizen.

You’ll need to get a job, and spend a few years working it.
