So rainy season is coming and for those who don’t know your best friend is workman. I just got the new hiking gear from there for 4900 which includes waterproof breathable coat and trousers. I’ve been using gore Tex the past few years and I honestly can’t believe how good these cheap clothes are. Was out walking the dog in the rain this morning about an hour ago and the stuff is already dry and regulated my temperature better than the 20,000 gore Tex coat I have. If you have one near you and need some go check it out!

Nice tip! Got a handy link I can check out?
Agree with Workman being reasonably priced. Only thing is they rarely carry my size (I’m fatter than the average Japanese women) so sometimes it’s a struggle to find something that I can fit and also like wearing. Though I’m aware it’s not only a Workman thing.
I bought a champion rain jacket and pants. Works for about 4 minutes then starts to soak through. Gonna need dollar store rain jacket and pants under my rain jacket and pants
Have a love hate relationship with my Workman stuff. The gear that I have stops the rain, but the membrane doesn’t breathe much so I sweat like crazy inside.
Right now it’s mainly used for golf but for someone not moving as much for work etc, would be wonderful. I have last years Aegis model.
I live and die by their 1,900 yen rain suits.
Year round motorcycle/gentsuki commuter and one’ll last over a year and keep me dry and the wind chill off.
Ah yes workman, the company that just blatantly
Rips off other outdoor brand’s designs.
But judging by the popularity of the brand, people seem to be ok with it because it’s a Japanese company ripping off western brands and not a Chinese company ripping off Japanese brands.
If you want some super heavy duty rain gear their rider rain gear is awesome and about 6000jpy. I’ve been in rain so heavy you couldn’t see and been dry as can be in it. And I never melted the leg to my exhaust which is way better than my old Viking suit.

Also their waterproof boots rock as well but their biggest size is 28.5cm (most are only 28).
In general I love everything I’ve gotten from Workman.
Either someone here loves Workman, or the Workman social media team is doing a great job!
Want waterproof sneakers that are warm in the winter as well? Get converse waterproof sneakers. Ive been using them nonstop, they are the fucking shit!
The big difference is, most (if not all) of their rainwear is coated only, in comparsion to Gore Tex et al being a membran sandwiched between the outer layer, which is water-repellent to lessen the pressure on the membran, and the inner layer, which functions to wick moisture away from the body. A mountaineering person said, WM is great for emergency use bc it’s very light and compact. But up there, use it only once, bc by the second time it will already be much weaker.
Any recommendations for hiking boots from them? I’m looking through their stuff now since we’re planning on climbing Mt. Fuji this summer. This place looks right up our alley for pricing and needs.
What do you do for shoes? My main problem is shoes getting soaked through – sprays don’t seem to work. Trousers can be a problem (can’t easily change trousers when out) but shoes are a complete nemesis.
I’ve found an umbrella suffices. I’m just walking in the suburbs, though — nothing intense.
