I’m never able to make a direct relation to what I learned from what source honestly. I feel like everything I do has a significant impact and would probably be worthless without the other. Basic example: Anki seems to be a big vocab builder and is something I can easily do in the morning without exceptions. Nevertheless, I stumble upon things I learned in Anki while reading tons of times and have no clue what it means. Looking it up I immediately say “Urgh of course, I should know this from Anki”. Is Anki now the staple or reading? Would one work without the other? Hard to say.

Renshuu, really great SRS site/app with grammar lessons and community built word lists. not too gameified and has a solid basis in language learning techniques.
Wish i had discovered it sooner, but the JLAB (japanese like a breeze) anki deck/addon is really great for beginners. Probably my favorite beginner resource i’ve come across so far. I use it mainly for listening practice, but it has a wealth of features that are great for learning grammar (both casual/slang and formal). All of the cards are from anime.
That being said.. i’d have to say Anki if i could only choose 1 tool, or Netflix (w/ Language Reactor) once passed the early beginner stage.
