Hi everyone,
I used to live in Japan, and now in Australia. I noticed my Japanese drivers license expires mid November this year. I would like to renew it bc I may live in Japan again in the future.
Does anyone know the procedure for renewing your license when living overseas (I will be able to go to Japan if necessary) and what happens if it expires? Thanks in advance

If you’re not a resident of Japan, you can’t renew it – a valid residence card is a requirement for renewal.
My expired Japn license was totally worthless. Had to start anew. Yuck.
