A Japanese worker falls off his desk then starts snoring aggressively.

This happened during a daily morning meeting with a client’s company. During meeting when his turn comes to report work progress.
While reporting his daily progress, he was normal until the client’s PM asked questions.
The we started recognizing his unusual behavior. To me, it reminded me of that “edging my brain aneurysm” meme.

After a few seconds, he falls onto the floor and starts snoring aggressively. Everyone in the office was shocked, his snoring was so load(60 db) that even the clients heard him.
We called an ambulance. They gave instructions on what to do until the transport team arrived.
White foam flowed out from his mouth as he almost drowned from his saliva.

He is around 40 and obese, eats unhealthy conbini bento everyday. Does overwork like any other salaryman.

;Moral of the story: Take care of your health seriously. He would have died if he was alone doing zangyou in the evening.

Apologies if this post was unsettling.

  1. Not sure if zangyo was the cause but likely triggered by stress of not being able respond to the client in positive light. Fainting can cause snoring sounds as the body tries to absorb more air to feed the brain. The foaming can indicate a much more serious condition so kudos to the person who called the ambulance

  2. The didn’t applaud him for working so hard? He must be working so hard to be so tired.

  3. Similar thing happened to a female co-worker of mine in the office. She was being worked horrendously with overtime and then was also tasked with looking after visiting execs from India who would call her incessantly, once at 10pm to complain about a crack in the wall or something. Just egregious shit. After a week of this she let out a weird groan and collapsed foaming at the mouth. Grand Mal seizure. Taken to hospital and she never came back. People break.

  4. Not specifically overwork, though that was a factor, but I blew up a work situation last week calling bullshit for creeping irresponsible decisions from time/money pressure, presuming things would be ok this time because they were last time etc. Just went one step too far in a potentially life-threatening outdoors work scenario, no clarity on any insurance, long hours, etc etc.
Nice people and all but just a disaster waiting to happen. Don’t fuck with mountains/sea/nature.

  5. Hope that client learned a lesson as well that people are working beyond acceptable limits to deliver

  6. Are you sure that what you heard wasn’t gasping but snoring? They sound similar, but one can be the result of a heart attack

  7. >unhealthy conbini bento

They’re not the healthiest but… are they that bad?

  8. Agonal breathing. Most likely cardiac arrest or stroke. I hope your coworker is ok.

  9. Great, I’m a bit over 40, overweight and eat conbini bento every day, and stay in the office way too long.

  10. Everything ok but unhealthy conbini bento? What conbini bento is unhealthy? Or why home made bento is healthier than conbini one?

  11. Something similar happened to my dad about 10 years ago. Turned out it was a serious liver infection.
