My wife grew up about 100m down the street from this, her hometown, so to speak (what was known as the kanaiwa ginza). This particular place is not connected to it, but the area was home to lots of small shoyu ‘factories’–her parents ran one. Those are mostly gone these days, and the remaining ones have been spiffed up and operate as tourist stops rather than functioning/going businesses as in the past.
The overall kanaiwa area has kind of been re-subdivided, some parts renamed (partially), and there is a fair amount of gentrification, new houses, etc.
