Junior HS Diploma Requirements for those who have graduated Abroad. Getting Admission in HS under Foreigners Quota in Tokyo’s Selective Schools.

Hello Everyone,

**Background:**

I am a 16(M), moving to Japan next month with my parents. We got our COEs and everything and will be living in Tokyo. I have researched all entrance examinations of different HSs in Tokyo. I will be getting admission in a Metropolitan School in Tokyo which has a Foreigners Quota under which you only have to write an Essay and Give an Interview.

I completed my 9 year course of Study in a Private School in a country in South Asia. I got my Graduation Diploma and Transcript issued by my school. The Diploma and Transcript have digital signatures of School’s Principal but no stamp of the school.

**Question:**

* Are these docs accepted without a stamp and handwritten signature of the School’s head or do I need to get them physically stamped/signed?
* Other than this, do I need to get my Certificate attested by MOFA of my Country?

**Side Remarks:**

I tried contacting the TMG and Embassy of Japan in my country but didn’t get a straightforward answer. Also please let me know if it has been answered before or wasn’t allowed to be posted here.

**TYSM in Advance.**

One thing you’ll quickly learn about Japan is that there is no such thing as “too official” when it comes to documents.

If you *can* get your documents all official-like with seals and stamps and signatures then you ***should***. Not because you’re guaranteed to need it, but rather because you really don’t want to be in Japan, ready to start school, and then have someone say “this document isn’t good enough”. Then you’re stuck trying to get replacement documents while you’re in another country. It’s much better to go a bit overkill while you’re still at home and can easily get it.

Mind you: I’m not suggesting you turn this into some sort of epic quest. If the school can’t/won’t do it, *that’s fine*. The idea is to get the most official documents you can, not to rampage through the halls searching for someone to stamp your transcripts.
