Chris Jericho makes Tyler Durden look like a reliable narrator.
1) Meij was in charge while several of their investments set up a new competitor under their noses. NJPW fault or not, no way he’d want to immediately work with them. If a directive came up from above to play ball, as a successful and proud CEO in his own right, he might have just decided, “Nah, I’m good. Peace.”
2) In my eyes, as an NJPW fan, nothing was lost by not working with AEW sooner. Since the ‘partnership’, we’ve gotten a sleepwalking Yuta in BOSJ, a returning deed doer in Archer, hopes of a Bryan G1 run, and… Kingston on STRONG, which is okay… The partnership with IMPACT has at least bore fruit.
3) Jericho hasn’t said anything of value in years.
Okie dokie. Don’t think this was a big secret or whatever but okie dokie.
