Doulingo:)

We all know that doulingo isn’t the best , I honestly just use it everyday to do one lesson a day .( I use utube and other apps too)
However wha annoys me the most about doulingo is that it doesn’t always show u kanji , am I missing something? Is there a way to force kanji option?
Because I’ve had it with ( わたしは)

  1. There’s lots of bad about duolingo, but I’m now giving up on my 3rd app. The first won’t stop telling me how great it is at teaching when the “tests” are just show a kana and you click yes I know it and your mastery goes up. The other somehow thinks kanjis are the hints, not what I’m supposed to learn. Duolingo at least taught me hiragana and katakana. After seeing this post I might go back to it, it’s shit but at least it’s something.

  2. You’re not missing anything, Duolingo is just bad. The solution is to stop using it.

  3. I like Drops more than Duolingo. I also dont like the duolingo teaching methods

  4. Jump ahead in lessons and it’ll start showing you a lot more kanji. I personally really like duolingo as a supplementary means. Keyboard entry for lots of questions gives you typing, spelling, reading, vocabulary, and kanji recall (the entries may ask for hiragana but you can enter in kanji vast majority of the time if you know them) practice in one go. Works well for that purpose alone and has helped me speed up certain aspects of typing/writing Japanese. To which I commit to writing a lot everyday. At least I try to convey 4 to 5 1-paragraph comments, thoughts, views, posts, replies.

  5. Worst part of Duolingo is that 90% of my errors is because I don’t write exactly the english form they want, so unnerving

  6. back when the Japanese course was released, there were no kanji in it. the addition of kanji to the course is quite recent, actually. So all the new exercises use kanji (except for the beginner ones). If you see words like 私 written as わたし it probably means that the lesson is from the older versions.

Though the kanji usage is irregular for some words- sometimes there will be リンゴ, sometimes りんご and sometimes 林檎 (Apple).

In any case, it’s not a big problem. A bigger problem would be the incorrect pronunciation of some kanji, or just straight up pronouncing things wrong.
