Hello everyone, I will be in Japan from July to September to study Japanese and I’m about to book a sharehouse.
In particular I think I will take a private room in a share house with either Interwhao or Oakhouse.
First of all I would like to know if someone had some experience with one of these two? Would you recommend it?
Moreover I would like to know if it’s possible to invite someone to sleepover in your private room in a sharehouse. Of course if the room is for one you can not live in 2 and there will be very little space, but if sometimes I would like to invite my girlfriend or a friend to sleepover, would it be possible?
Thank you everyone!

I stayed at an Oakhouse for about a year and things were great. The house was more like a big complex, with theater, gym, bathhouse which was cleaned daily by the staff. I had a group of friends and we partied almost every weeks. If I were still in my 20s and single, I would stay there again.
As for inviting friends over, we are allow to host 1 visitor for at most 3 days per month. Any more than that and you have to pay an extra 10000 yen (which increased to 20000 yen nowadays I think). If you pay that extra fee you can live in 2 even though the room is for one. Yes the room is small, but toilet, bath, kitchen,… are all in the shared area so it was not so bad. And compare my college dorm back in the day, this is way better.
I used to live in the sharehouse( for 5-6 persons) which belongs to oak, but I don’t have a great experience with them. I also heard something from other friends …. If u want to choose oak, pls check the contract carefully.
Most of the sharehouses are not allowed sleepovers, some will surcharge for the extra service and u need to report to them first.
