Is there a discord separated by levels for speaking practice?

Beginner here, I maybe have a total of 400 words and a smidgen of grammar under my belt. I was wondering if there was an N5 speaking group to practice very basic conversation in, and maybe some higher level groups to sit in on for listening practice. I just found out the class I was going to take through the local community college changed its hours to during the workday and I really need the interaction to go along with self-study.

  1. I do not now of any discord servers but I can recommend you language exchange apps like Tandem or HelloTalk, I suggest Tandem over HelloTalk. There are group calls where you can listen to people converse.

(Don’t pay for premium, free is good enough)

  2. I know a discord server called the “English – Japanese Language Exchange”, and it has some resources, help channels etc and places for general conversation and a beginner conversation channel

You might be able to search it, but if you pm me I’ll send you a link since I’m not sure whether I’m allowed to post it here

  3. I actually run a conversation club specifically for this level. I run it as if it’s a kindergarten. We do show and tell, play charades, play games, do origami, make snacks… and have conversations of course and the goal is to push through to becoming more conversational.

  4. I don’t actually know but I wonder if the would give you crap for being new if you use the discord server linked in the sidebar?

Might be good to try for science.

  5. If anyone else is interested, the Renshuu discord is very active, at least in the “events” section. I listened in on the grammar lesson, which is midway through the series, and didn’t feel lost with the new information. It is worth checking out and I look forward to other planned events.
