My references aren’t hand signed – is that ok?

I’m applying to the JET program this year and I have lovely references written by previous employers for me. I really don’t want to send the originals as I understand they won’t be returned to me, and the other is signed digitally since, ya’ know, it’s 2022.

I really don’t want to pester my professional contacts for hand signed references since they are no longer geographically close to me, and I’m currently away and won’t be home until after the applications close 🙁

Do you think they’d accept references that aren’t original/handsigned?

  1. we have the same issue. I based mine on their guidelines. It doesn’t show that they need the reference letters with wet signatures so I think it’ll be fine.

  2. Wait, where did it say this? My application said to send them links and references uploaded their stuff there. I didnt see any letters or anything

    Usa applicant here.

  3. I asked mine sent PDF photocopies of the letters and cover sheets they had hand signed since it would be too difficult to get the original physical copies. I’m hoping that’s okay.

Honestly, the application process is ridiculously finnicky. Had to pay the post office to get my passport copies certified.

  4. Sorry that I don’t know about other countries but I know that the U.K. requires signatures and headed paper. But for the U.K. it’s all online and not paper.

Can your referee sign electronically? That would solve your geographical issue.
