10 days in Japan (Tokyo and Kansai) itinerary

Hello, I will be visiting japan with my partner in just less than 2 wks! We anticipate it to be hot and rainy in early June, and we hope to be able to see some hydrangeas!

About us:
– My partner loves food so I’ve put down a few popular places knowing that we will have to line up
– I love flowers and and visiting cute cafes hence they are also incorporated 😆
– We are very open to any suggestions!

Tokyo (staying at ginza)
Day 1:
– onibus coffee (meguro) 9am
– shibuya (shibuya crossing -> cat st -> omotesado -> Takeshita st: Lunch @Katsudon-ya Zuicho, dessert @ Azuki to Kouri)
– shinjuku gyoen (will there be hydrangeas?)
– shinjuku (3D billboard, Udon Shin, open to more activity recs)

Day 2:
– tsukiji market (seagen)
– asakusa (excited for melon pan, open to more activity recd)
– on the way back to Ginza stop by akihabara (we do watch some mainstream anime/ manga but are not collectors)

Day 3:
– kyubei sushi ginza for lunch
– ginza shopping (Uniqlo etc.)
– dinner to meet up with friends

Shimoda (staying at seiryuso ryokan)
Day 4
– stop by kamakura on the way to Shimoda (Meigetsu shrine for hydrangeas, komachi st, Kamakurakokomae station beach, hase station Buddha statue, visit a cute cafe)
– check in to ryokan

Day 5
– check out of ryokan
– explore Shimoda (Shimoda park, Perry road)
– train to Osaka
– dinner at Gyukatsu Motomura Umeda

Kansai (staying at Umeda Osaka)
Day 6
– explore Osaka
– Umeda
– Osaka castle
– Namba (Shinshaibashi and dontoburi, if have time consider – Namba Yasaka Shrine, Shi-Tennoji Temple, Shinsekai, Tsutenkaku Tower)

Day 7
– visit studio Ghibli park in Nagoya (12pm entry)
– have lunch (Hitsumabushi) at Nagoya station beforehand
– explore Nagoya after (Osu)

Day 8
– Day trip to Nara
– stop by Kuromon market before hand
– at Nara: Kōfuku-ji, Tōdai-ji, Nara park, Kasuga-taisha, Higashimuki Shopping Street (Melon de Melon, Nakatanidou)
– go back to Namba for dinner (ramen)

Day 9
– Universal studio japan

Day 10
– Day trip to Kyoto
– get to Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine early
– taxi to Golden pavilion
– Philosopher path (silver pavilion to Nanzen-ji Temple, lunch at Omen Ginkaku-ji)
– Kiyomizu-dera Temple (Nineizaka, hire kimono, Starbucks Coffee, visit pagoda and temple)
– dinner (menya inoichi) & walk around gion

  1. Make sure you find a restaurant that opens early when you’re in Nagoya for your dining experience. Most places open at around 11am for lunch, which could impact your entry to the Ghibli Park for 12pm admission since it’s an hour journey from Nagoya station. If your hotel offers breakfast, you should be all set and pick up food at the park. Maybe grab the Histumabushi for dinner and find a place that does Morning Service in Nagoya if you do not have breakfast at your hotel – Tsubame Bread & Milk was good but could have a long wait if you don’t get there early.

  2. Are you traveling from Osaka to Nagoya for Ghibli Park the same day? Just wondering because we are planning to do same day travel from Kyoto and want to know if it’s feasible.
