Does kimbap count?

  1. Korean sushi is so delicious also Kimbap counts🤙🤙🤙

  2. Kimbop is not sushi. It’s really important to understand that one’s cultural food is really important, and this applies to both Korean cuisine and Japanese. They are not the same culture and these are not the same foods.

Su means vinegar and shi means rice in Japanese. Koreans also eat vinegared rice (cho bop) but kimbop is NOT vinegared; it’s predominantly flavored with sesame oil, sesame seeds, and salt.

In particular, this is particularly egregious because of the Japanese occupation of Korea and how they tried to eradicate and subjugate Korean culture. They tried to wipe out the language, culture, food, everything.

I love both foods and love that others do too. But please don’t call Korean food Japanese food.

Signed, a person of Korean heritage who also has Japanese people in their family now.

  3. I make gimbap with tunafish sometimes, and that’s not too different from my spicy tuna roll.

  4. Not really, but goddamn if it isn’t delicious. Probably my favourite Asian snack. I basically became a gimbap last time I was in Korea.

  5. Is it sushi or tuna kimbap? If not still pass go! Loved fresh kimbap when I lived in korea

  6. I mean it’s not sushi, it’s kimbap, but idgaf I’m not a mod and that looks delicious pls stay if I can have a piece

  7. If you had magkeolli/soju instead of soda and kimchi instead of strawberries I would count it.

  8. No. But it’s better than the coom-covered American rolls people post, so I don’t mind

  9. This looks like a really lovely picnic 💛 inspired to do something like this soon with my husband!
