So I have the new SMBC Olive account (other than this I really like it), and i’m trying to link my account to V Point so I can get some cashback.
I keep running into the weirdest problem where, the V point app is requiring a name written in Kana to log into SMBC so it rejects my name written in Romaji. It will also reject any attempt to write my name in Kana as not matching my SMBC account.
I live really Inaka, so the nearest SMBC is over an hour and a half away, else I’d rock up there and ask for help.
Any thoughts of other things I could try/ something I’m overlooking?

Figure out what the kana on your SMBC account is. If it doesn’t list it on the website, start a furokomi from another account (or get a friend to if you don’t have another account – you don’t need to actually send it) and see what the name shows up as.
I had a similar problem but the help section in the vpoint app was pretty clear how to enter foreign names.
Log in to SMBC direct using the BROWSER instead of the app and it will greet you by your registered kana at the top of the page.
You can also go to your transaction page (again, in browser, not app) and go to the bottom and click 口座番号連絡書. Your kana should be written there as well.
