Car seat certified for use in aircraft

I’m looking for a car seat for a one year old that’s complaint with [Air Canada’s rule](https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/plan/special-assistance/travelling-with-children.html#/) that it is labeled as certified for use in aircraft. So far, the only seat with the label that I’ve found is [Evenflo’s Tribute LX](http://www.evenflo.jp/conv/tribute_lx_neptune.html), but the price is ¥24,200 compared to $79.99 [on Amazon US](https://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Tribute-Convertible-Car-Seat/dp/B00O8RRYDW/) (but it doesn’t ship to Japan). Does anyone have a certified car seat they can recommend?

  1. I have never used a child seat with my toddlers. When did it become a mandatory?

  2. Ask the airline directly, but be prepared to have to stick it in checked luggage anyway.

When we flew with ANA about 6 years ago, my darling confirmed that ours was compatible with the aircraft we’d be flying on, and they said *”Yes, yes, yes, no.”*

We found out at check in that it was not compatible with the aeroplane after all. The seatbelt needs to be attachable by arcane means, or something. Ours was a Maxi Cosi at that time.

Still get the extra seat though. Spread out.
