I’m looking for a car seat for a one year old that’s complaint with [Air Canada’s rule](https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/plan/special-assistance/travelling-with-children.html#/) that it is labeled as certified for use in aircraft. So far, the only seat with the label that I’ve found is [Evenflo’s Tribute LX](http://www.evenflo.jp/conv/tribute_lx_neptune.html), but the price is ¥24,200 compared to $79.99 [on Amazon US](https://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Tribute-Convertible-Car-Seat/dp/B00O8RRYDW/) (but it doesn’t ship to Japan). Does anyone have a certified car seat they can recommend?

I have never used a child seat with my toddlers. When did it become a mandatory?
Bit of duct tape with certified written on it should do.
Ask the airline directly, but be prepared to have to stick it in checked luggage anyway.
When we flew with ANA about 6 years ago, my darling confirmed that ours was compatible with the aircraft we’d be flying on, and they said *”Yes, yes, yes, no.”*
We found out at check in that it was not compatible with the aeroplane after all. The seatbelt needs to be attachable by arcane means, or something. Ours was a Maxi Cosi at that time.
Still get the extra seat though. Spread out.
Unfortunately almost all child seats in Japan install with ISOFIX or 3-point seat belts, so can’t be used on planes.
If you just need it for the plane, you can get a CARES harness for slightly less. Or, you can rent either the harness or the Evenflo seat: [http://www.ibaby.co.jp/detailchildseat.html#tributesport](http://www.ibaby.co.jp/detailchildseat.html#tributesport)
