Domestic flight information

Hello everybody,

I’ll be taking my first domestic flight later this week.

I’ve seen in older posts that I don’t have to take my passport with me, just my zairyu card. Can anybody confirm ?

Also I’ll be flying from the Kobe airport, anybody knows how long in advance should I plan on arriving to the airport ?
I usually plan for 2 hours in advance for international flights, but I have actually never ever taken a domestic flight in any country. However the onboarding process might be different for domestic flights and require less time ?

  1. You only need Zairyu

You only need to be there (usually) 60 minutes before departure, often less. If it’s a LCC plan more time though

  2. You don’t have to bring your passport, but you can bring it with you if that makes you less anxious.

Domestic flights are easier on everything, so you could arrive even 30 min before the flight (try to arrive earlier than that just in case)

  3. Domestic flight you can go there about 1hr before departure, I’ve been to Kobe one and usually not that busy. And passport is not required.

  4. You only need your residence card and they may not even check it.

The booking confirmation should tell you how long before the flight check in opens and closes – that’s when you should aim to get there. Check in usually closes about 30 mins before the flight time.
