Genbaku Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum are a must visit. Don’t forget to try some Hiroshima style okonomiyaki and check out Bunny Island!
Same, I was there with 2 of my friends and we were just silent taking it all in.
There was a elementary school field trip there as well and the little kids had drawn pictures and were handing them out to people and asking them questions in English. Still have mine.
Definitely a must visit, very powerful.
My wife and I went to japan our honeymoon and made a day trip there and it’s a lot to take in. I still get emotional when I think about it.
Seeing all the origami cranes made me cry. Such a beautiful and tragic backstory.
We were there a couple of days before the anniversary nearly a decade ago. It was hot and raining, the humidity felt like it was 130%. We saw the memorials, the paper cranes, everything. We both cried.
