Can I use a NEX roundtrip ticket with my non-Japanese Passport even though I live in Japan?

The family and I are going to Okinawa and we need to get from Yokohama to Narita airport and looking to do it cheap, yet convenient at the same time. I’m looking at the NEX website that advertises for tourists and going through the step-by-step procedure and understand you need to show your non-Japanese passport but is that it? If so, I could use that for my daughter, who has a Canadian passport as well. I didn’t see anything that required showing a plane ticket.

Has anyone else living in Japan done this before?

  1. NEX round trip is only available from Narita, not to Narita. You can’t buy them at Yokohama.

  2. “showing your passport” means showing the stamp in your passport that verifies you’re a tourist (or “temporary visitor” as it is on the stamp).

  3. Buy a ticket on Ekinet with enough lead time and you can save up to 30% each way.

  4. Since they don’t stamp passports you can absolutely use it. I used to get it from Narita home since I didn’t know when I’d be coming back to the airport and the nice lady at the counter would always ask for my passport.
