Looking for a good map

I will be living in Japan for a while and I’m looking to get a map or multiple.
Mostly I’m interested in seeing travel routes, I’m planning on traveling mostly by train and bicycle. Thank you for any recommendations

  1. I am planning to copy routes from google maps and print out note cards for certain areas. This is very low tech, but spouse and I decided to not be tied to our cellphones on this trip..

Also we plan to avoid distractions like [searching phone chargers](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/13j0c81/lost_on_yakushima/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) or [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tokyo/comments/13qi2ol/lost_my_wifes_iphone_at_tokyo_station_while_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1).

  2. Search your local area on Google Maps for a Tourist Info Center. Most cities/towns/major districts/neighborhoods in Japan have them – often attached to or near train stations. They are always my first stop when visiting a new area in Japan. They will have paper maps/brochures of the local area and info on local activities/events. Especially if hiking, they have trail maps and you can ask the staff there about current trail conditions. If you collect tourists stamps/eki stamps they often have a stamp highlighting the local area too. A wealth of helpful info with staff who usually speak English or are comfortable using Google Translate to communicate with tourists. Lots of domestic tourists use them too.

  3. Honestly, google maps, sorry this is not what you want. Otherwise, when you are in a touristic area go to the information kiosk and get a map.
