Pool in Tokyo

Does anyone have any recommendations in Tokyo for a public pool or somewhere affordable I can get membership to that has one?

Bonus points if they’re tattoo friendly, but I know that’s a long shot. I can wear something that covers my arms and legs no problem.

  1. Narrow down where in Tokyo, there’s probably like a few hundred in the whole area.

  2. Toshima and Itabashi ward pools are tattoo friendly, no rash guard required as of last summer.

  3. Only open in the summer but Setagaya Park has a nice public pool, although its prob not great to do laps in… As for tattoos, i think if its a public pool or gym they can only ask you to cover the tattoo up but they can’t force you. I’ve seen guys at the Setagaya Pool with tats, also at the gym at Komazawa Park.

  4. Are you able to cover your tattoos? I’ve yet to find a tattoo-friendly pool, but here in case one exists ;;

  5. Daikanyama has a cheap but properly sized pool that you can pay about ¥400 to swim laps in for two hours. It’s a great option if you don’t feel like getting a gym membership and you happen to be in the Shibuya area

    It’s located in the Daikanyama Sports Plaza

  6. The public pool in Hikarigaoka simply asks that tats be covered. I’m guessing that other municipal pools have a similar policy. Since my son has large tats on both upper arms, he uses the extra large size bandaids to cover them. And that was acceptable.

  8. I usually use municipality public sport center. It only cost me around ¥350 for 2 hrs! If you have tattoo, you can just use top swimming wear, it only cost ¥1000-¥1500.
