Where to buy contacts for cheap (preferably in bulk)

I’m going to start wearing contacts for the first time since I moved to Japan (been wearing glasses and contacts before in my home country). What’s the cheapest way to buy them? I’m not interested in subscription services, I’d like to buy a few boxes in advance when I need them.

Extra info:
– I speak and read Japanese
– I will have a prescription/eye exam from an ophthalmologist
– I want daily disposable ones (the monthlies are too drying for me because of the cleaning solution)

  1. This seems like a post about shopping, maybe your question is solved by [the wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/wiki/shopping)?

  2. I buy mine online. Usually from the UK or Germany. Do a quick Google search and find what’s cheapest and best for you.

  3. I recommend using Amazon Japan. Donkihote also has cheap disposable contact lenses although I find they are a bit more expensive than Amazon Japan and require you to fill out some paperwork at each purchase (unless you register for a Majica card and show that at the counter)

  4. I get mine from Amazon for daily use bulks, morecon for colored contacts.

  5. Megane Super is the cheapest option for mine, unless I happen to find a place where they’re on sale. (Lens Apple and Amazon both cost more, for example.)

So you’ll have to do some price comparison for the specific brand you use.

  6. The ones I use are cheaper on Rakuten for some reason, Amazon would be the next place to look.

  7. I’m surprised no one mentions rakuten.

I bought mine from [アットコンタクト](https://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/atcontact). For the last.. three years? maybe more.

Also, I use weeklies, and like you, i did find my lens were too drying when i use the usual cleaning solution. But it all change when i switched to peroxide cleaning solution. Also, the lens hold much longer than prescribed. Saved money and time fiddling washing the contacts.
