What do you use to write in japanese?

Hi, I ‘m slowly learning japanese and I’d like to try to write some short sentences, but of course I’m not japanese and I have a “normal” pc keyboard.

What do you use to write in japanese? I found this site, that is very good: [https://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/japanese.php](https://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/japanese.php)

but I’d like to use something offline, maybe integrated with Word if possible.

Thanks,

  1. Either the Japanese Windows IME or Google Japanese Input (you can just search up the second one, should be one of the first results and you just have to download it)

  2. Google Japanese input is better than windows apparently. They’re both a bit janky when switching often but it works.

From what I’ve heard, most Japanese people also have a “normal” PC keyboard.

Language support doesn’t come from the keyboard, but from the OS. Install the Japanese IME, for example, and you can use Japanese on any keyboard by typing the romaji and using the spacebar to select which kanji to change into.

  4. I just added japanese in both my phone and PC so i can switch between keyboards easily.

  5. you use a normal keyboard

your OS sets it into Japanese mode

google “Installing a Japanese PC on Windows 10” or whatever OS you have

  6. Romaji Input on PC and 10-Key Flick on Mobile. Both are just sort of options you can enable in settings. Both work offline.

These are the most common input methods used even by Japanese natives. While most keyboards in Japan tend to have the Hiragana on them, people who use that style of input are the minority.
