Anything useful I could buy from Amazon?

I’m a fairly new Japanese language learner, Basically all I know is Hiragana and Katakana and some basic vocabulary.

I’m about to order some things from Amazon.ca (not Japanese related) I need to spend another $13 at least for free shipping (otherwise I have to pay $15 for shipping LOL > . >) Is there anything useful I could add to my order to help jump start my Japanese learning? I’m guessing a textbook would be a good option but I’m not sure which one would be good (willing to spend a little more than the $13 if it’s for something useful!)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions \^ . \^

  1. Genki is a pretty good textbook that is fairly popular on this sub. It’s a fair bit more than 15 dollars though unless you find it used perhaps.

I found buying metal book clips were helpful for reading.

If you want to draw kanji (debatable if this is useful) you can buy some graph paper

If you want a nice beginner manga to work towards you can buy yotsuba from amazon I think. You probably won’t be able to read it at first.

  2. a nice pen and kanji writing practice book, if you’re into handwriting.

or the genki workbook. you need the textbook to work with it but maybe you can find a pdf or get the ebook version for cheap. But the workbook is nice to have in paper form to actually write your answers in
