I am going to a career fair tomorrow, and I have no idea what to wear. This is the first time I am going to a career fair here in Japan. Do people wear full on format suits or is putting on business casual enough?
Wear a suit. Even if the company is a “no dress code, anything goes” company, it would look silly at a career fair to talk to companies in anything but a suit.
If you’re a man, also consider wearing business shoes and not using a sporty backpack. A business backpack is fine these days.
99% of people will be full on formal suit. So do that unless you want to stand out for better or worse
(If you’re a dude)
I would wear a dark blue suit, light blue shirt, brown business shoes and matching belt, and then whatever color tie (not with an overly busy pattern).
Reason I say that is to look professional but also stand out *ever so slightly (I really mean slightly, don’t overdo it)* from the inevitable crowd of people dressed in black and white looking like they’re about to attend a funeral.
Almost everyone will be in a suit. Usually リクルートスーツ “recruit suits” that are cheaper specifically for new grads looking for work.
Navy or charcoal suit.
Getting a face tatoo also helps
Well, do you want to wear a suit? If yes, then do.
If you wouldn’t otherwise prefer to, why would you want to attract employers that still expect it? Sounds like a mismatch from the get go?
Depends a lot of … you.
How old are you? If you are a fresh graduate or nearby, better go for the traditional suits.
If you are a bit older, depends on what kind of company you want to target, what position etc.
In any case, show confidence. A confident business casual gives a way better impression than a non confident in the perfect suits.

Depends. Are you serious about finding a job?
