Travelling to Japan next january

Planning to go to Japan for winter with my family.it will be 6 of us including 2 woman in ther late 50s.trip will be around 14-15 days.planning to visit tohoku are and fit in hakodate.will be using the jr pass for 14 days.

1/23

– Land at narita airport around 7am.will take express,bullet train and and jr nikkou line to Nikko.

-will probably go take a look at shinkyo bridge and toshogu shrine

1/24

– akechidaira ropeway and maybe ryuzu waterfall

– free day

1/26

-will now move to Sendai via utsunomiya and then bullet train.

-will visit Sendai castle and zuihoden mausoleum

-zuiganji temple,Matsushita cruise and fukuura island

– free day

– moving from Sendai to aomori via bullet train.
-maybe take a look at the aquarium?

-moving now to Hakodate via bullet train and Hakodate liner

First time noob here so hopefully you veterans can give me advice on this itinerary.thanks.

  1. Since you mentioned that two members of your party are elderly, my main concern would be how they’d feel about doing a lot of walking, in the cold, and up hills. Zuihoden from what I recall was fairly hilly, far from unmanageable if you’re young but if you’re an elderly woman in your late 50’s YMMV.

  2. Who made this itinerary? Just interested to know bc as a first timer you are not going to Tokyo, Kyoto or any of the super touristy places
