Hello fellow Redditors,
Lately, I’ve been incorporating power naps into my daily routine while at my compact office in Tokyo. It’s becoming clear that my makeshift setup of a blanket and small pillow isn’t quite cutting it. In my quest for the ultimate power nap experience, I’ve come across two contenders: the Airweave Portable Mini and the Inflatable Mat 8cm WAQ.
The Airweave Portable Mini looks very inviting for a quick, refreshing nap with its superior comfort and portability. However, it comes with a significant price tag of ¥33,000. On the flip side, the Inflatable Mat 8cm WAQ is a much more budget-friendly option, priced at ¥6,980. I have reservations about the comfort and longevity of the WAQ mat compared to the Airweave.
Does anyone have experience with these products or similar ones? Is the comfort of the Airweave worth the additional cost for daily power naps? Does the WAQ mat provide adequate comfort for a short rest? Are there other options you’d recommend I consider?
Your insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
TL;DR: I’m in need of the perfect power nap setup for my small Tokyo office. Debating between the Airweave Portable Mini (Â¥33,000) and the Inflatable Mat 8cm WAQ (Â¥6,980). Any experience with these or similar products? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you considered an under desk hammock? And no, I’m not kidding, those really are a thing, a glorious glorious thing.
Mr. Scorpio could you please tell OP where to get an under desk hammock?
A cheap yoga mat and a pillow are my cheapest recommendations. However if you want to go really cheap, my friend in Minato-ku says flattened cardboard boxes on the floor are best.
Why not just a cheap futon set from NITORI
Gotta buy stuff to help me power nap. Wtf. just sit back in your chair and shut your eyes.
I’ve slept maybe a hundred or two nights in the lab/office over the past 10 years. Never had much luck with inflatable mats, though some models are fine. Others crinkle when you move, slowly deflate, are a pain to inflate (though portable USB inflators are getting cheaper and better), and you better hope there isn’t a staple or something tangled in the carpet. And if there’s no inflator, there’s something vaguely icky about your moist breath coating the inside of the thing.
That airweave looks good – didn’t know they made one that small. Magniflex makes a nice, thin futon under their “camp” series. I use a Nemo Switchback nowadays, because it’s light , small, and just flips open, though I’ve had years to adjust to hard ground. Sometimes use a folding cot, like those made by Helinox, for a full night, combined with a pad.
A pillow and blanket might just be as important. Take care in choosing those, too.
I try to keep my total sleep kit setup time under a minute. If it’s a short power nap, you don’t want to expend more energy than you gain sleeping by folding and pumping and shoving things in drawers.
I envy people who can just sleep anywhere.
It’s my bed after 11 pm or no sleep .
I have a sofa in my office. Not big enough to stretch out and sleep. So I curl up in the fetal position and just cry myself to sleep for 45 min.
This with a nice pillow and blanket was how I did it. Ahhhhhh.
