Night schools for learning japanese?

Hello,

I was looking into moving to japan before the end of next year and had a question regarding improving my general language ability/fluency. For context, I am a software engineer in the EU with around 3.5 YoE and an N3. There are some game studios that I would like to work at, specifically within graphics/engine dev.
From what I understand, these require language fluency > N1. So, the plan was to work at an international company for a few years while attending a night-school to improve my language ability.

Is this doable? Would anyone have any alternative suggestions?

  2. There are night/part-time schools that will help you improve your Japanese.

Will they get you to N1 in any sort of reasonable timeframe? Unlikely. It really depends on what you mean by “work at an international company for a few years”.

If you mean “work there for 5-10 years”, sure.

If you mean 2-3 years, that’s not really likely to happen.
