  1. Does the way you write kanji matter in terms of readability? For example, the Chinese 值 and Japanese 値 versions.

  2. Are there any very good but easily accessible audio lessons for learning Japanese? For example, when learning Korean, there’s Talk To Me In Korean on spotify, which is wildly convenient. Is there something like this for learning Japanese?

  3. How does the intensifier “*fucking*” come up on translations? I usually see it on mangas.

  4. 啓人「声優を目指したいんだ」

    いつみ「声優を?」

    啓人「演じるってことの面白さが**これだけ詰まった世界って、 他に無いんじゃないかな」**

What does the bold text mean in the last line? I’m particularly confused about the meaning of 詰まった. I don’t know how to interpret it. The meanings I know for that word don’t seem to fit with the sentence. “Densely packed world?”

Oh okay. After thinking about it more, I feel that it means “There’s nothing more interesting than acting in this densely packed world.” The “densely packed world” sound weird though. Am I wrong?

  5. hello, i have been reading nichjou and got to this sentence:
    “ねじ回しがついてた らみんな普通の女の子 扱いしてくれるないじゃないですか”.
what sort of conjugation and suffixes etc, are used in (furigana in []):
    “扱[あつか]いしてくれるないじゃない” ?

the translation i found is “with a screw on my back nobody will treat me like a normal girl”, but that is not literal since ですか makes the japanese sentence a question
ないじゃない is a double negative i think, so a more literal translation could be “with a screw on my back, will everybody treat me like a normal girl?” but that is just my guess, since i don’t fully understand 扱いしてくれるないじゃない.

so the question again being what sort of conjugation and suffixes etc, are used in:
    “扱[あつか]いしてくれるないじゃない” ?

  6. アイマンさん。

    もうとっくに看板だせ。。

    その辺にしといてくれないか。

    What is 看板 doing here?

  7. >ある男性の方が事故物件を住み比べた時に体験した

What does 比べた mean here? I hope I wrote it correctly.

  8. Does it sound weird to use the verb 揺れる to talk about a phone vibrating ?

  9. Hello!
The sentence (from tango n2 book) is:
    私は彼のようなタイプが苦手で、つい避けてしまう。

The provided translation is: “I am not good with people like him and tend to avoid such people”

I’m a little confused with the usage of つい here. I know it can mean “at last” “in the end”. So, I would translate as: “I am not good with people like him and *end up* avoiding such people”. I don’t know where this *tend* is the provided translation is coming from. Am I missing something? Or maybe it’s just a little extra liberty in the translation?

  10. Hello, in the following: しかもステータスの10%上昇効果や、回復職にも経験値が回るようなメリットは、まるで存在しないかのように扱われた。何のことはない、冒険者とは愚かなものだったのだ。

What thing is 何のことはない? Is it modifing 冒険者 “adventurer who aren’t amounting to much”? It’s in the same sentence but seperated with the comma, which is really confusing for me.

  11. How would you say “female dominatrix” in japanese? Would it be onna shujin?

  12. What does 目 mean in these contexts?

    「同じ場所、同じポーズで写真」の5人組、今年で40年目

    4回目の打つなのに、まだ病気させる… その場合、ワクチンは本物のコロナよりも好ましいです。

What does 目 serve as in these contexts.

  13. I bought this dashi flavor packet (you boil it for 5 mins in 2 cups of water to make dashi). The package says regarding its ingredients: いわし節とかつお節をベースに、昆布、椎茸をバランスよく配合し、味、コク、香りの3要素がほどよく調和しています。

My question is , what is the reading of 節 in this context? せつ? せち? And what does it mean in this context? Usually this kanji means “season”, “occasion”. I understand everything else in the sentence but I don’t know what 節 is doing here. Thank you!

  14. Why is both か and または used here?

    ある事態が起こっても、何もならないか、または、好ましくない状態をひき起こすことを予想させる意を表す。

  15. Does anyone know a good resource for Honorific language? I am on that section in Bunpro now and I can not seem to grasp when to use which phrase.

  16. 「〜たびに」と「〜につけて」の違い

    「〜につけて」は後件に自然に起こる心の状態が来るので、次のような文では使えない。

Can someone help me understand the second line? The 心の状態 is throwing me off

    Thanks!
