I searched the group btw. Odd to ask this since I’m not new to Japan but I’ve always worked for places where my health insurance payments were just part of my paycheck. Anyways, moved to a new area to substitute teach (instructor visa, but health insurance isn’t part of the job as a sub of course) so I signed up at the ward office. A month or so (longer even) later, I finally got a health insurance… something in the mail. It has multiple sheets with scannable codes and all different months (labeled from 4, April, when I moved here) and also another one with the entire year amount. I’m only staying until mid July. Am I correct in assuming I just bring one of the month sheets to a conbini or wherever and pay it as I’m here? I just found it odd that it was sent as one giant pack to me. Thanks!

Yes, just pay each month. They send you multiple options to pay. Monthly, every few months, or one lump payment. You can choose how to pay. But pay you must.
Yes. You should be able to pay the entire period in one go, or choose to pay each sub-period by the appropriate dates.
We just got our property tax bill, and that works the same way; one payment, or split. It is very convenient.
obviously don’t pay the whole amount if you just staying till Mid July …
If you have PayPay, you can also pay them from your mobile phone; but only from your PayPay balance, and not from a linked credit card. It’s pretty convenient if you have your bank account linked, as you can set it to automatically top-up the account and schedule the payment date as well.
You can just use multiple sheets up to July to pay at once. You don’t have to wait until it’s that month. The lump payment sheet just gives you a bonus if you pay for the whole year before the deadline.
