I used to be all into these AYCE sushi places in college… I have heard some establishments purchase their fish from less-than-reputable providers. Its bad, not just from a health perspective, but from an overfishing perspective as well.
I hope it was enjoyable, it sure looks delicious. For future consideration, please research your restaurants, not just the AYCA, I would hate to hear someone got sick, or to support unethical providers.
What’s the name of the place?!
I concur. WOW!
Damn. Where!?7
That sounds amazing
Mmmm mmmm mmmmm mmmm MMMMMMM 🤤
What is the name of the restaurant?
As bad a rap some sushi buffet places get, there are some legit good ones.
Mine has a $16 standard and $18 premium buffet. They do charge you extra if you leave stuff on the plate, but honestly, it’s just incentive to make sure you don’t eat 3,000 calories in one sitting.
All you can eat? Oh, I can eat it all for sure
what’s the name? i’ll go there right now
In Portugal you have a few good places that you can order whatever you want for 12/18$. The sushi is actually quite good in my opinion.
Yummy
*That price is too shady for me, but I don’t eat from buffets these days anymore, anyway.*
If this is anywhere near southern IN I’m down
drop the name already everyone is asking 😭
Is this Bloomington?
OP only posted three hours ago. Let’s see how they do overnight. The one time I had bad sushi (which wasn’t even AYCE FWIW) it didn’t hit me until the next morning, then it hit for like two or three days straight.

I have a place by me that also does $20 AYCE but only during lunch on weekdays. And the sushi is honestly better than a lot of the more expensive places in the area
AYCE for $20 is an insane deal.
That looks like $175 worth of sushi at a chain sushi place. That’s insane.
Had a sushi place in Boise that was phenomenal. All you can eat for $18
Not bad! We have similar prices on Sushi here in the Islamic Sultanate of Qarsherskiy.
There was this AYCE sushi place in Tampa right next to USF that we always went to when I was a student. Like $10.95 for AYCE sushi and hibachi. Went back about a year ago when I was in town for a wedding and while the sushi actually was pretty good the restaurant itself was pretty gross. Dimly lit (not for ambiance but more likely to hide the gross stained carpets from being filled with college kids all day every day), and smelled damp and gross. Was nice to go back, but probably won’t feel the need to revisit next time I’m in Tampa.
As a sushi chef, and a Japanese restaurant owner, I always wonder what the quality of fish places like this use. All that for under $20 is insane. There’s no way they’re buying AAA, or even AA, at that price point.
Must be the fact you’re so close to the ocean.
Fun Fact. Used to live in the New Albany/Jeffersonville/Clarksville area across the river from Louisville KY. The Louisville airport is one of the biggest UPS air hubs in the country. Late at night around 11pm you could see the planes lights lined up miles apart landing over and over and over. It was common to get really fresh sushi/seafood because it went straight from the Atlantic coast onto planes daily. Seafood is a lot fresher there than most of the geography between there and the east coast because of it. I would imagine around Indianapolis it’s a similar story.
I will fly out to Indiana for this!
We have a place in Charlotte, NC called Mr. Tokyo that’s the same value. It’s not bad at all!
Looks damn good for under $20. Impressive
How tf do people get these beautiful all-you-can eat sushi?
All the buffets (before covid) sushi look so sad. If sushi could be depressed, that’s what it looked like.
“Sushi… that isn’t all bad”… the bar is very low here.
there’s a place like that in dothan, AL, it’s called ooka sushi
Darn 🤤….those nigiris, especially the unagi.
I’ve travelled all over the country for work, both coasts, half the states and still the my favorite Sushi restaurant was Sushi-Ya in Fort Wayne Indiana. Unfortunately it’s closed now.
like most ayce, it depends how much you can scarf down. here in nyc just 3 nori rolls under $10 and that fills me up or the same mass of sashimi could be $15 here, so $20 is worth it for more variety and to really stuff my face.
My fat ass would bankrupt them like Homer at a buffet.
That’s 100 bux at least in HOU
All you can eat sushi for less than twenty dollars in an almost entirely landlocked state? Y’all are braver than me.
Until the parasites kick in
Yes it is …. Lol
Challenge accepted. Let’s see who taps out first!
Under $20? For all that? Hard not to question the quality.
We’ve been to the Watami up on Pendleton Pike, and it has always been really solid. Impossible to beat that selection including appetizers, etc. for the price.
I need a sushi place like that.
That’s pretty good 20 dollars is the typical price here in Sao Paulo, cheapest I have seen was around 10. But Sao paulo is lower cost than the US. In Philadelphia I saw 30 but that was sushi and no sashimi and they make you eat the rice.
