Hi guys,
I’m moving to Japan as a computer programmer in the next few months and am looking for somewhere to live. I am considering doing the sharehouse for a few months while I get a bearing on the situation. Can anyone recommend some good areas to search for apartments?
I will be making junior developer salary (3-4 million) so I’m hoping to spend 50,000 to 70,000 on rent and utilities inclusively, that is to say I can’t live in a super upscale area. My company is providing a transportation stipend too so I could commute up to an hour into shinagawa.

Would anyone please recommend some good places to search for apartments?

Thank you

Many of the apartment for rent websites have an option to sort results by commute time, for example like this [https://suumo.jp/sp/chintai/tokyo/tsukintsugaku/](https://suumo.jp/sp/chintai/tokyo/tsukintsugaku/)
Keikyu Kawasaki might be good. Or go to Yokohama or Kami Ooka area
You can live in either:
Ota-ku – Keihin Tohoku Line or Keikyu Main Line can be used
Kawasaki – above train lines as well + ueno-tokyo line
Setagaya – some of my team members live here and travel using Oimachi Line then transfer in Oimachi Station using Keihin Tohoku line
All under within 1 hour train travel time, total travel time will depend how far your apartment is from the nearest station
The area around JR/Keikyu Tsurumi station in Yokohama can be a good option. You can take the Keihin Tohoku/Keikyu to Shinagawa without transfering. And if you are okay with living 15 minutes or so away from the station, there are plenty places under 60,000.
