Some “newer” Seiko electronic dictionaries connect to Windows computers with a USB cable. And allow users to access the excellent Seiko dictionaries from Windows (and paste definitions into a txt file in Windows).
**\*\*Someone might find these features useful to automate the preparation of personal flash cards, for example.**
I think this is how it works. After installing the Seiko Pasorama software on the Windows computer, basically one could:
\- Connect a USB cable between Seiko electronic dictionary & computer
\- Run the Pasorama software in Windows
\- Select some unknown word in Windows (internet browser, text document etc.)
\- Unknown word is automatically pasted into Pasorama, and Seiko definitions are displayed on the Windows screen
\- User can copy and paste the dictionary definitions from Pasorama to a text file in Windows
Seiko is no longer selling or supporting these devices. But there are blogs of people getting these to work with fairly recent versions of Windows 10. Seiko still posts the drivers for Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1.

Note – Some “older” non-color Seiko’s might be a bit snappier but might not have touchscreens (helpful for kanji input).
