Train/ bus to Nishiki Market area 10am-6pm

Check Into Machiya Maya Gion
Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Otowa Waterfall
Then walk to Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka
Starbucks Coffee – Kyoto Ninenzaka

Yasaka Chaya for a rest
Yasaka Pagoda
Ishibekoji Alley
Hokan-Ji Temple

Head To Gion
Kodai-ji Temple
Hanamikoji Street
Shinbashi-dori
Yasaka Shrine
Maruyama Park for a rest

Pontocho/Kiyamachi-dori (late afternoon/evening)
Kichi kichi omurice 5pm (waiting for confirmation)
Bar Liquor Museum
Niyama Kiyamachiten (yakiniku) 9pm
Pontocho Kappa (sushi izakaya)

Friday 9/1: Day 6 (Kyoto (Arashiyama) → Kobe → Osaka)
Train/bus to saga-arashiyama station (go early)
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Okochi Sanso Villa and Garden

Train to Kobe
Nankinmachi (Chinatown)
Shin-Kobe Herb garden and ropeway 10am-5pm
Steak Aoyama (reservation SET at 5:00pm
Train back to Osaka

Saturday 9/2: Day 7 (Osaka → Nara? → Tokyo)
Take train to Nara
Nara Deer Park
Nakatanidou (mochi)

Should i push the bamboo grove to sat morning? Or skip the ropeway? I kind of want to go back to the grove, but is the ropeway a cannot miss thing?

  1. The formatting is confusing, but from what I can understand 8/31 seems to be very packed especially with a 5pm dinner reservation.

    Arashiyama bamboo grove only takes about 15-30 minutes, and you should definitely do it first thing in the morning before it is swarmed.

    I get the appeal of eating “Kobe beef in Kobe” but otherwise I find Kobe very skippable as a city. In any case the night view from Mt Maya is more famous than the Shin-Kobe one.
