Every time I ride on the Oedo-sen, I can’t help but notice how loud and screeching the train is compared to the other trains and subways in Tokyo. Is it something about how it was constructed? Or the rolling stock? And are there other loud trains in Tokyo?

I think it’s because of all the sharp turns it takes. If you follow it on a map you can see the turns and it lines up with where it screeches most.
Also they have the windows open as a COVID countermeasure. Before the pandemic it was not as loud with all the windows closed.
Nanba line in Osaka is the same. There is a curve before a station so I think the brakes grate extra loud on the rails
Good to know there are fellow Oedo line sufferers. I bring earplugs every time I know it’ll be in my travel route.
Makes me wonder how severe the hearing loss of the frequent riders is.

These days I just wear earbuds with nothing on sometimes just to combat how loud everything is.
The tsukuba express (TX) is so loud and screechy I have to yell in my neighbors ear to talk to them. Honestly more unbearable when you don’t talk because then you just hear all that screeching metal
Since we’re complaining about Tokyo lines, fuck Toyoko line. Fuck it into oblivion. It is late at least 50% of the times and makes me miss my connections. Worst line in Tokyo. Thank you for listening to my rant.
